The Illinois State Police continue to investigate the death of a Richland County man following an incident earlier this month in Olney.
According to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded around 3:30 p.m. On Monday, June 8th to a residence in the 4500 block of East Golf Lane.
Authorities said 49-year-old Kenneth Lee Grove was found at the location and allegedly failed to comply with commands from a deputy. During the encounter, Grove was tased and subsequently became unresponsive.
Emergency medical personnel were called to the scene, and the deputy began CPR. Despite lifesaving efforts, Grove was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation was requested by the Richland County Sheriff’s Department to conduct an independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding Grove’s death.
No additional information has been released as the investigation remains ongoing.
