Two North Carolina residents were injured after their pickup truck struck a deer on Interstate 64 in Wayne County early Wednesday morning.
According to authorities, 38-year-old Jason S. West of Fayetteville, North Carolina, was traveling westbound on Interstate 64 at approximately 12:30 a.m. when a deer entered the roadway near mile marker 101.
West, who was driving a 2019 Ford F-150, was unable to avoid the animal, resulting in significant front-end damage to the vehicle.
Wayne County Sheriff’s deputies and Wayne County Ambulance Service responded to the scene. West and his passenger, I’Esha M. Oliver, also of Fayetteville, were transported to Fairfield Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.
