Illinois Farm Bureau Announces 2026 Nutrient Stewardship Field Days

By Mark Wells Jun 20, 2026 | 6:36 AM

Illinois Farm Bureau’s Nutrient Stewardship Field Days will return this summer, giving farmers an opportunity to learn about conservation practices and regenerative agriculture efforts taking place across the state. According to IFB Environmental Program Manager Bena Pegg, the field days provide a platform for farmers to share real-world experiences and practical knowledge that can help improve soil health, productivity and sustainability.

The events are part of Illinois Farm Bureau’s ongoing efforts to support the state’s Nutrient Loss Reduction Strategy, while also expanding discussions on topics such as soil health, field research, livestock integration and regenerative farming practices.

Several events are planned across Illinois from June through September. Locally, the Jasper, Clark, Cumberland and Richland County Farm Bureaus will host a bus tour on July 7 to Southern Illinois University and Southern FS. Participants will hear directly from researchers and agronomists during the all-day event, which includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The Wayne County Farm Bureau will host a field day on August 20th from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Nutrient Loss Inhibitor Demonstration Plot. This year’s research trials will focus on nitrogen stabilizers, micronutrients, humic acid and application timing. The events are funded through Illinois Farm Bureau’s Nutrient Stewardship Grant Program. Since 2015, the program has awarded approximately $1.75 million to support 192 county-led nutrient stewardship projects throughout Illinois.

Additional information, event updates and RSVP details are available through Illinois Farm Bureau.
