Brenda Sue Jaques, 74, of Carmi, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Mt. Vernon Nursing and Rehab, in Mt. Vernon, Indiana. She was born on November 22, 1951, in Fairfield, Illinois, the daughter of Roy D. and Margie (Felty) Smith. Brenda married Tine Jaques on October 10, 1970, in Carmi, Illinois. Together they shared over 55 years of marriage.
She worked as a Certified Nursing assistant for Carmi Skilled care and for Wabash Senior Living. Brenda had previously attended Carmi Church of Christ. She enjoyed playing bingo at different places throughout the area. She liked being around animals. She was a people person, and truly enjoyed being around people. Most of all, Brenda loved spending time with her family.
Brenda is survived by her husband, Tine Jaques of Carmi, IL; her son, Eddie (Lori) Allen of Concord, IL; grandchildren, Cody Allen of Bowling Green, KY. and Connor Allen of Norris City, IL; a brother, Curtis (Nancy) Canady; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents and a baby brother, Mike.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, June 26, 2026, at the chapel of Roberts and Cook Funeral Service in Carmi, with Pastor Bob Pollard officiating. Burial will follow immediately at North Maple Ridge Cemetery in Carmi. Family and friends may visit from 9:30 until time of service. Roberts and Cook Funeral Service has been entrusted with arrangements.
