Residents of Wayne County will have several opportunities to celebrate Independence Day close to home as Fairfield hosts two days of family-friendly activities leading up to and on the Fourth of July.
The festivities begin Thursday, July 2, with Freedom Fest at Southwest Park from 5 to 10 p.m. The event will feature inflatables, children’s games, a foam pit, putt-putt golf, food and craft vendors, live music, and a fireworks display at dusk. Country artist Noah Atwood is scheduled to perform, with another musical act expected to be announced. Admission is free.
On Saturday, July 4, Fairfield’s “America’s 250th Celebration” will take place at Leo French Park. The Fairfield City Pool will offer free admission from 1 to 5 p.m., while inflatables will be available throughout the day.
A community picnic begins at 5 p.m. with free hot dogs, chips, drinks, and other refreshments. Live entertainment will follow, featuring Connor Atteberry at 5 p.m., Flora-based Likity Split Band at 6:30 p.m., and Fairfield’s Legally Sheila at 7:30 p.m.
Organizers say the celebration is designed to bring the community together as residents enjoy music, food, family activities, and patriotic festivities during the Independence Day holiday.
