After decades of serving the Fairfield and Wayne County community, Brad and Shari Winter are preparing for retirement and a new chapter in Ohio.

The couple plans to relocate at the end of November 2026 after purchasing land in Xenia, Ohio, where they will build a new home near family.

Brad Winter is a retired Fairfield Police Chief and currently serves as a courthouse security officer with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department. He also works part-time in hospital security.

Shari Winter has served as Wayne County Coroner since September 2025, when she was appointed following the death of Coroner Carrie Dagg. She previously served as deputy coroner beginning in December 2020. Her term as coroner concludes December 1st.

In addition to her work in the coroner’s office, Shari spent many years as a full-time crisis counselor with One Hope United and continues to work occasional shifts. She has also been an active community volunteer, serving on the Kids In Motion Board for more than 20 years and as a member of the Fairfield Rotary Club for the past 12 years.  Brad and Shari are also members of Merriam Community Church east of Fairfield.

The Winters have listed their Fairfield home for sale as they prepare for the move. Shari’s two sons, who attended school in Fairfield, have already returned to Ohio. The couple says they look forward to spending more time with family and traveling during retirement.
