
A longtime Nashville, Illinois Community High School baseball coach is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges following an investigation by state and local authorities.
According to the Illinois Attorney General’s Office, 54-year-old Chad Malawy of Nashville has been charged with one count of criminal sexual assault and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, both Class 1 felonies carrying possible prison sentences of up to 15 years if convicted.
Malawy also faces two Class A misdemeanor counts of solicitation to obstruct justice and two counts of attempted obstruction of justice.
He is being held in the Washington County Jail pending further court proceedings.
The charges stem from a joint investigation by the Illinois Attorney General’s Office and the Nashville Police Department, with the Illinois State Police assisting in forensic evidence collection and analysis.
Malawy has been placed on administrative leave from his position as a baseball coach at Nashville Community High School.
