WAYNE COUNTY FAIR SET TO KICK OFF WITH FULL WEEK OF EVENTS

The Wayne County Fair returns with a full schedule of livestock shows, entertainment, grandstand events, and family activities at the Wayne County Fairgrounds. Some 4-H shows have already been completed, but more activities begin today with FFA member and family check-in from 4 to 9 p.m. at the 4-H Barns.

Tomorrow (Saturday), 4-H family check-in will be held from 1 to 8 p.m., followed by additional check-in Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday’s schedule also includes poultry testing, junior poultry and rabbit registration, livestock weigh-ins, a mandatory exhibitor meeting, and Church Night at 7 p.m.

Livestock competitions begin Monday, July 6th with rabbit, poultry, and junior goat shows. Monday night’s grandstand attraction will be Motocross at 7 p.m.

Tuesday features the 4-H and Junior Beef shows, the 4-H Goat Show, carnival rides from 6 to 10 p.m., and the Wayne County Fair Queen Pageant at 7 p.m.

Wednesday includes swine and sheep shows, harness racing at 5 p.m., and the release of non-sale livestock at 7 p.m.

Thursday’s schedule features the Dog and Llama/Alpaca Costume Contest, Round Robin competition, 4-H Awards, the 4-H Foundation Auction, and the Wayne County Fair Rodeo at 7 p.m.

Friday, July 10th begins with fairgrounds cleanup and continues with a Craft and Flea Market and the popular Pig Penning competition at 7 p.m.

The fair concludes Saturday, July 11th with an Antique Truck Show, Antique Tractor Show, and the annual Demolition Derby at 7 p.m.

New this year is Bluegrass Rides of Kentucky, providing the midway. The carnival will feature eight rides—four kiddie rides and four adult rides—along with a mechanical bull. Fairgoers can also enjoy lemon shake-ups, cotton candy, snow cones, and taffy.

Carnival rides will operate Tuesday through Saturday from 6 to 10 p.m. Armbands are $25 per night, or individual tickets are available for $5 each.
