Reports out of Lawrence County earlier this week indicated that the Sheriff’s Department was transferring its inmates temporarily to the Richland County Jail in Olney.
Lawrence County Sheriff Trent Masterson indicated in a release on Facebook that the move was being made because of staffing issues and that the move was temporary.
He stated further in the release: “Due to staffing issues the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office is moving all its current persons in custody to Richland County Jail. We believe this is a temporary solution. Any persons with visits scheduled will need to contact Richland County Jail and follow their procedures. Any weekenders would need to report to the Richland County Jail as well.”
