A St. Francisville man has died from injuries suffered in a fireworks-related incident in Lawrenceville.

Knox County, Indiana, Coroner Joe Millspaugh Jr. said 73-year-old Bob Johnson died at 10:23 p.m. CST Friday at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana after being transported for treatment.

A preliminary autopsy determined Johnson died from a traumatic brain injury sustained while setting off commercial fireworks at Lawrenceville Stars & Stripes celebration.

The incident remains under investigation by Illinois law enforcement and regulatory agencies, and officials have not released additional details.

Johnson was well known for organizing Vincennes’ annual Fourth of July fireworks display for many years. Following his death, Saturday night’s fireworks show in Vincennes was postponed.

Johnson also served for many years with the Denison Fire Protection District in St. Francisville.
