A Missouri man escaped injury after his vehicle was struck in an apparent hit-and-run crash on Interstate 64 in Wayne County.
According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, 65-year-old Charles C. Kelley of Wappapello was traveling on I-64 near mile marker 14 when a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado struck the rear of his vehicle while attempting to pass.
Kelley regained control of his 2015 Lexus RX350 and told deputies he saw the driver of the pickup stop, switch seats with a passenger, and then leave the scene.
The crash was witnessed by Don Briggs, who told deputies the Silverado had been weaving across the roadway and crossed the centerline several times before striking Kelley’s vehicle.
Deputies later identified the registered owner of the pickup as Arthur D. Montana of Keller, Texas.
No injuries were reported, and the Lexus sustained rear-end damage.
