(Seattle, WA) — The United States’ World Cup run is over. The team crashed out of the Round of 16 against Belgium following a 4-1 loss from Seattle. America conceded a goal less than 10 minutes into the match, but Malik Tillman scored his second free kick of the tournament to tie things up in the 31st-minute. The Stars and Stripes allowed a goal just 61 seconds afterward, and a horrible misplay by goalkeeper Matt Freese spotted Belgium a 3-1 lead and effectively ended the game. The U.S. still hasn’t made the quarterfinals of the World Cup since 2002.

Mikel Merino scored in added time of the second half to secure a 1-0 win for Spain over rival Portugal in Arlington. Cristiano Ronaldo announced his World Cup retirement from his Portuguese side following the match. The Round of 16 wraps up on Tuesday when Argentina and Egypt clash from Atlanta while Switzerland battles Columbia in Vancouver.

(New York, NY) — New York Native Jose Alvarado is staying with the Knicks for another three years. In a press release published on Monday, Knicks president Leon Rose praised Alvarado for his toughness and “commitment to winning.” Alvarado signed the contract valued around 14-million dollars after declining a nearly five-million dollar player option deal. The Brooklyn native originally joined the NBA playing for the New Orleans Pelicans before being traded to the Knicks in February 2026. Alvarado averaged just over 6-and-a-half points in 28 games for the Knicks, including three starts. He also had a viral moment during Game 3 of the NBA Finals when he chased a ball into the sidelines and fell into the lap of former Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

(Undated) — The Celtics took the time to explain their decision to trade Jaylen Brown on Monday. In a press conference at the team’s facility, president of basketball operations Brad Stevens said they traded Brown to keep the team competitive, add more “optionality” with draft assets, and because the changes to the salary cap have made things more challenging. Boston sent Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for Paul George, two first round picks and two second rounders.

(Denver, CO) — The Nuggets are getting mixed signals from their star player. Nikola Jokic [[ ni-KOLA yo-kitch ]] said his “desire” is to stay in Denver. However, the three-time MVP told reporters on Monday he’ll wait to “probably” sign a new deal next year. Jokic is under contract for two more seasons and is eligible for a five-year max-deal worth almost 360-million-dollars if he declines his player option next Summer.

(Memphis, TN) — The Grizzlies are trying to poach a young player from the Warriors. ESPN reports the team signed Quinten Post to a three-year, 30-million dollar offer sheet. Post was taken in the second round of the 2024 draft and averaged almost eight points to go with four rebounds in 67 games last season.

(Undated) — Former Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold cleared waivers Monday and is now a free agent. Arnold, who is facing legal issues in Florida, was released by the Lions last week after being arrested on felony charges of armed robbery and kidnapping. He is expected to visit NFL teams that have expressed an interest in signing him. Authorities have accused the 23-year-old of orchestrating the abduction and beating of three men whom prosecutors believe he wrongly suspected of having stolen from him.

(Washington, DC) — The Washington Commanders are adding veteran depth to their secondary, signing free agent cornerback Rasul Douglas to a one-year deal today. ESPN reports Douglas will earn nearly four-million-dollars this season. The 30-year-old appeared in 15 games for the Miami Dolphins last season, recording two interceptions and 13 passes defensed.

(Atlanta, GA) — The Braves are placing one of their veteran starters on the 15-day injured list. Martin Perez [[ mar-TEEN ]] landed on the IL on Monday with a forearm bruise. The 35-year-old got hit by a line-drive in Sunday’s game against the Mets and had to leave the mound. Perez is 6-and-6 this season with a 3.54 ERA in more than 80 innings pitched. Carlos Carrasco was designated for assignment in a following move.
