Alberta Irene Simpson, 77, of Barnhill passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at her home. Alberta was born in Effingham County, IL on June 18, 1949, to Russell Thoele and Lois (Blankenship) Buchholz. On October 9, 1970, she married the love of her life Robert Lynn Simpson who precedes her.
Alberta is survived by sons, Joseph (Jane) Morber of Carmi, David Morber of Casey, Ronnie Simpson of Fairfield, and Donnie (Christina) Simpson of Fairfield; siblings, Emmett Thoele, Jerry (Diane) Thoele, and Glen Thoele all of Effingham County, Becky (Jim) Flack of Shumway, Ed (Marilyn) Buchholz, John Buchholz, and Bob (Rozan) Buchholz all from Indiana; grandchildren, David (Lan Zi) Morber Jr, Casandra (Keith) Hammond, Maise (Nathan) Weiler, Rylie (Michael) Wheeler, Nick Tribe, and Nathan Tribe; mother-in-law, Virginia Simpson of St Clair MO; several nieces, nephews, and great- grandchildren also survive.
Alberta was preceded in death by her parents, Russell, and Lois; husband, Robert; son, James Dale Simpson; and father-in-law, Elbert Simpson.
Alberta will be cremated and a Memorial Graveside service will be held at a later date.
Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home is in charge of all the arrangements.
