WAYNE COUNTY BOARD SET TO MEET TONIGHT

The Wayne County Board will hold its regular monthly meeting tonight (Thursday) at 7:00 p.m. in the upstairs courtroom of the Wayne County Courthouse. The meeting was originally scheduled for last Thursday but was rescheduled to tonight. The meeting will begin with prayer, the Pledge of Allegiance, and roll call, approval of the June meeting minutes, and public comment and/or guests. During the Chairman’s Comment/Appointments section, the Board will consider Sheriff Chris Otey’s request for appointments to the Sheriff’s Merit Commission consisting of: Jerry Vaughan, Ben Gardner, Keith Wilson, Brian Keck, and Mark Tipps. After addressing old business, board members will hear reports from several county offices and departments, including the State’s Attorney, Circuit Clerk, Sheriff, County Clerk, Treasurer, Supervisor of Assessments, Coroner, Health Department, and Highway Department. After addressing new business, the board will hear Committee reports, including Claims and Finance for payment of bills, Sheriff, EMA, Animal Control and Welfare, Road and Bridge, Insurance and Education, Building and Grounds and Safety, Economic Development, Rules and Policy, and the Liquor Commission. The board may also address other issues before adjourning for the evening.
