The national average for a gallon of regular unleaded continues to inch toward the four-dollar mark once again. According to this morning’s numbers from GasBuddy.com, the national average is $3.98 a gallon, a fifteen-cent jump from Monday. Here in Illinois, the price at the pump is already above four dollars, with a current statewide average of $4.15 a gallon, a dime higher than Monday. Drivers in Indiana continue to enjoy the lowest statewide average in the nation, with the price per gallon hovering around $3.38, fourteen cents higher than Monday. On the West Coast, California drivers are paying the highest prices in the nation with a statewide average of $5.42 per gallon, eight cents higher than the beginning of the week.
