RED CROSS IN NEED OF BLOOD DONATIONS

The American Red Cross needs blood donations. According to the Red Cross, as of yesterday morning, they are facing an emergency blood shortage and need donors to give now and take steps to protect patient care. Zachary Elmore, Account Manager, Donor Recruitment with the Red Cross, says a steep decline in blood donations since the end of May has created a growing gap between supply and patient need. Elmore says a recent Red Cross survey reveals a “significant gap” between public perception and the reality of the nation’s blood supply. Many underestimate both how quickly the blood supply can become critically low and how likely they or a loved one is to need a blood transfusion.
