Geff Grade School District has announced the hiring of Dr. Patrick Rice as its new superintendent and principal. Dr. Rice officially began his duties at Geff Grade School on Tuesday.
Rice most recently served as superintendent of Cairo schools, a position he held for the past four years. He will also continue serving as a clinical professor at the University of Illinois, where he teaches aspiring superintendents and principals with a focus on education policy and organizational leadership.
In addition to his work in higher education, Rice previously spent 10 years as Director of Field Services and Equity Director for the Illinois Association of School Boards. He has also served a combined eight years as a school principal, authored four books, and published more than 20 articles in academic journals.
District officials welcomed Dr. Rice as he begins leading Geff Community School District into the upcoming school year.
