The Cubs dropped their three-game series to the Yankees following a 2-1 loss from Wrigley. Colin Rea surrendered a two-run homer over six innings of work for Chicago, which has dropped three of its last five games. The Cubs host the Dodgers tonight. Meanwhile, the Cubs are swinging a couple of trades with the Blue Jays. The team sent Jameson Taillon to Toronto for a player to be named later. The Athletic reports the Cubs followed up by acquiring Kevin Gausman from the Jays in a separate deal.

(Undated) — The Bronx Bombers are bolstering their depth before the deadline. According to ESPN, the Yankees are acquiring infielder Luis Garcia Jr. from the Washington Nationals in exchange for right-handers Ben Grable, Yovanny Cruz, Jack Cebert and Jake Bird. Garcia Jr. joins a depleted New York offense that is without Aaron Judge, Cody Bellinger and Giancarlo Stanton. The 26-year-old was leading the National League in slugging percentage.

(Undated) — The Rays are adding to their starting rotation before the MLB trade deadline. Tampa Bay is acquiring right-hander Freddy Peralta from the New York Mets in exchange for minor league outfielder Aidan Smith, infielder Emilien Pitre and righty Gary Gill Hill. Peralta was acquired by the Mets in January for a pair of top prospects, and posted a 4.99 ERA across 22 starts. He joins reliever AJ Minter as the second veteran the Mets have dealt since Thursday.

(Houston, TX) — The Texans are bringing back a fan favorite. The team agreed to a contract with Jadeveon Clowney. He told the Houston Chronicle that he “learned the game a lot more” since leaving the team in 2019. The Texans selected Clowney with the first-overall pick in the 2014 draft and racked up 29 sacks in four full seasons. The 33-year-old has more than 66 career sacks with seven different teams.

(Green Bay, WI) — One member of the Packers will have a new look to the back of his jersey. The right tackle formerly known as Zach Tom revealed Sunday that he has changed his name to Zach Bako-Bewele. The 27-year-old said he wanted to represent his Nigerian ancestry. Bako is his father’s grandmother’s last name and Bewele is his father’s grandfather’s last name. Bako-Bewele has been limited to individual drills to start training camp after undergoing knee surgery.

(Dallas, TX) — The Mavericks are rewarding one of their forwards. ESPN reports the team extended Naji Marshall to a three-year deal worth just over 52-million dollars. The contract is fully guaranteed. Marshall averaged career-highs last season in points, assists, field goal percentage and steals. He tallied more than 15 points per game and suited up for 74 regular season matchups.

(Detroit, MI) — Michael Thorbjornsen collected his first career Tour victory after winning the Rocket Classic at Detroit Golf Club. Thorbjornsen finished atop the leaderboard by two strokes after shooting 18 under par. Xander Schauffele finished in second at 16 under, Davis Riley was third at 15 under par, and Rasmus Hojgaard earned third at 14 under. Defending champion Aldrich Potgieter was unable to make it past the cut.

A total of 16 drivers will make The Chase, which takes place in just four more races.
