The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has named Fred Roché as the new Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Marion VA Health Care System, where he will oversee health care services for veterans across Southern Illinois.
Roché has served as the Marion VA’s Associate Director of Operations since May 2022 and now assumes the system’s top leadership position.
Dr. Ahmad Batrash, interim director of Veterans Integrated Service Network 15, said Roché’s experience and leadership make him well suited to guide the Marion VA and continue its mission of serving veterans throughout the region.
Roché began his career with the Department of Veterans Affairs in 1996 as an administrative resident at the VA Illiana Health Care System in Danville. Since then, he has held a number of leadership roles at VA facilities in Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky and North Carolina, including positions with the Durham VA Health Care System and the Fayetteville VA Coastal Health Care System.
He earned a master’s degree in health administration from Indiana University and is a graduate of the Leadership VA Class of 2019. Roché is also a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
As executive director, Roché will lead the Marion VA Health Care System in providing medical care and support services to veterans throughout Southern Illinois.
