The Wayne County Sheriff’s Department investigated two traffic accidents Friday afternoon, with no injuries reported in either crash.
The first accident occurred at approximately 3:45 p.m. at the intersection of County Road 1800 East and County Road 620 North in Barnhill Township. Deputies said a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro driven by 16-year-old Brilynn Cline of Fairfield was traveling north on County Road 1800 East when Cline told deputies she swerved to avoid a southbound truck. The vehicle then struck a culvert, causing damage to the passenger-side tire and rim as well as the exhaust system. Cline and a female passenger were not injured.
The second accident happened shortly after 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Route 45 and County Road 1125 North in Lamard Township. According to the sheriff’s department, a 2014 Jeep Cherokee driven by 23-year-old Mizaac Scherer of Fairfield was traveling north on U.S. 45 and attempting to turn left onto County Road 1125 North when it turned into the path of a 2020 Toyota sedan driven by 34-year-old Cameo McCleary of Fairfield. McCleary was traveling east and attempting to make a right turn onto U.S. 45 when the two vehicles collided. Two passengers were riding in each vehicle, and no injuries were reported.
Deputies cited Mizaac Scherer for Improper Turn At An Intersection.
