A Jefferson County 911 dispatcher is being recognized after helping guide a family through the birth of a baby along Interstate 57.

On Saturday, July 18th, a mother was driving her pregnant daughter to Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon when labor progressed much faster than expected. After calling 911, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department Telecommunicator Bressler answered the call and calmly provided emergency childbirth instructions while dispatching fire and EMS personnel.

Before first responders arrived, baby Georgia was born along the interstate. Bressler remained on the phone, guiding the family through caring for both mother and newborn until emergency crews reached the scene.

The family recently returned to meet Bressler and introduce baby Georgia. Officials say the baby, her mother, and grandmother are all doing well.

In recognition of Bressler’s professionalism, compassion, and outstanding service during the emergency, Sheriff Jeff Bullard presented the telecommunicator with a Letter of Commendation.
