ONE PERSON KILLED IN RESIDENTIAL EXPLOSION IN ENERGY

One person was killed Tuesday evening following a residential explosion in the Williamson County community of Energy.

According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched at approximately 7:08 p.m. to the 100 block of West McGinnis Street after receiving a report of an explosion at a residence.

Upon arrival, deputies joined numerous law enforcement, fire and emergency medical agencies in securing the scene, searching for possible victims and ensuring the safety of emergency responders and nearby residents.

Investigators said the explosion created a significant blast radius and resulted in one fatality. The victim has been identified as David Turner.

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office and the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal are jointly investigating the cause and origin of the explosion.

Authorities say the investigation remains active, and no additional information has been released.
