The weather is expected to remain hot and humid the next few days. No rain is in the forecast until around the middle of next week, according to the National Weather Service at Paducah, Kentucky. They say daily rain chances will begin the middle of next week and run through at least Friday. Severe weather is not being ruled out around midweek, but forecasters say they aren’t sure on the possibilities just yet.
The wetter weather conditions should continue, according to the six to ten day outlook, with above normal precipitation expected, and near normal temperatures. The 8 to 14 day outlook shows above normal temperatures and near normal precip. Looking further ahead, the three to four week outlook for August 26th through September 4th, shows equal chances for temperatures and precipitation to be above or below normal.
Area rivers are below flood stage. The Little Wabash east of Fairfield is at 6.21 feet. At Clay City the stage is 5.39 feet. At Carmi the river is at 3.61 feet. The Skillet Fork at Wayne City is at 5.03 feet. The Wabash River at Mt. Carmel stands at 6.15 feet, and Bonpas Creek at Browns is at 1.4 feet. The Ohio River at Old Shawneetown is just below 16 feet. At 15.95 feet.
