A prolonged stretch of heat and humidity will continue across the region through at least Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service in Paducah.

The entire region remains under a Heat Advisory through Wednesday, with daily heat index readings expected to range from 100 to 110 degrees. The highest heat index values could approach 110 degrees Monday and Tuesday.

Forecasters urge anyone spending time outdoors to use caution, take frequent breaks, and stay hydrated.

Mainly dry weather is expected through Tuesday. Shower and thunderstorm chances could return to portions of the region Tuesday night before becoming more widespread Wednesday into Thursday. A few strong to severe storms may be possible.

Temperatures are expected to ease somewhat later in the week as the ridge responsible for the heat weakens. Thursday currently appears to offer the best chance for thunderstorms, although forecast trends have become somewhat drier.
