The Xenia Fire Protection District responded Monday morning to a hay bale fire that threatened to spread to several nearby bales.
Firefighters were dispatched at approximately 10:40 a.m. to the 2500 block of Cypress Drive.
Before firefighters arrived, the caller moved the burning bale away from the other hay, helping prevent the fire from spreading.
Firefighters, assisted by a nearby neighbor using a tractor, broke apart the bale to expose the burning material and extinguish the fire.
The Xenia Fire Protection District responded with seven firefighters and two engines. Crews remained at the scene for just over 30 minutes to ensure the fire was fully extinguished and would not rekindle.
