Illinois shoppers have just a few days remaining to take advantage of the state’s back-to-school sales tax holiday, which ends Sunday.
The 10-day tax holiday began Friday, August 7th and reduces the state’s portion of the sales tax on qualifying clothing and school supplies from 6.25% to 1.25%.
Eligible school supplies include items such as pencils, markers, notebooks and folders, with no price limit on qualifying school supplies.
Many clothing items, including shoes, also qualify for the reduced tax rate as long as the individual item costs less than $125.
The sales tax holiday concludes Sunday.
