Three people were taken into custody Wednesday night following an attempted traffic stop in Rinard.

According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, deputies attempted to stop a vehicle around 9 p.m. The vehicle fled to a driveway, where the driver, identified as 62-year-old Don C. Raley of Rinard, allegedly ran from deputies on foot.

Passenger 51-year-old Stacy L. Highsmith of Rinard was detained while a Clay County K9 unit assisted deputies at a nearby residence.

Authorities say Timothy W. Highsmith exited the residence and was taken into custody on an outstanding Clay County warrant. Raley later surrendered and was also taken into custody.

A subsequent search of the vehicle allegedly revealed methamphetamine in Stacy Highsmith’s possession.

Raley was arrested on a Clay County warrant and on charges of driving on a revoked license, fleeing or attempting to elude and obstructing justice. Stacy Highsmith was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, while Timothy Highsmith was arrested on the Clay County warrant. Both Raley and Stacy Highsmith were transported and lodged in the Wayne County Jail pending court proceedings.
