PRITZKER SIGNS LEGISLATION CREATING ILLINOIS FLOOD REBATE PROGRAM

Illinois is establishing a new flood rebate program designed to provide financial assistance to homeowners whose properties are damaged by flooding.

Governor JB Pritzker signed legislation allowing local home equity assurance programs to provide eligible households with a one-time rebate covering up to 50% of qualifying flood-related expenses, with a maximum payment of $1,000.

Pritzker said the program was created in response to the Trump administration’s denial of FEMA assistance for Illinois residents affected by major storms last year that produced record rainfall and severe flash flooding.

The new program is intended to help eligible homeowners offset some of the costs associated with recovering from flood damage.
