Two people have been arrested on felony charges as Illinois State Police investigate the death of an infant in Du Quoin.
Perry County court and jail records show Amanda Russell, 28, and Michael Russell, 34, were arrested Wednesday by Illinois State Police.
Both are charged with involuntary manslaughter and causing a child to be endangered resulting in death, both Class 3 felonies. Amanda Russell also faces a Class A misdemeanor charge of solicitation to obstruct justice or destroy evidence.
Amanda Russell was booked into the Perry County Jail shortly before noon Wednesday, while Michael Russell was booked shortly after 1 p.m.
Illinois State Police said its Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 7 was asked on August 17th to assist with an infant death investigation in the 700 block of West Park Street in Du Quoin.
State Police have not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding the child’s death, citing the need to protect the integrity of the investigation.
