Du Quoin State Fair officials are reminding visitors that pets will not be allowed in most areas of the fairgrounds during this year’s event.
Pets are prohibited outside designated camping areas. Visitors arriving at a fair entrance with a pet will be turned away and asked to take the animal home.
Service animals are permitted, although handlers are asked to register them free of charge with the fair and wear provided credentials while on the grounds.
Fair officials say the policy is intended to protect the safety and comfort of visitors.
The Du Quoin State Fair opens Friday and continues through Labor Day, September 7th.
