Marilyn Kuykendall, 94 of Grayville, Illinois, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2026, at Wabash Senior Living and Rehabilitation in Carmi, Illinois. She was born on Friday, April 29, 1932, in Carmi, Illinois, a daughter of Harold and Dana (Allison) Campbell. On July 27, 1957, Marilyn married Ronald Kuykendall at First Christian Church in Grayville, Illinois and together they shared over 50 years of marriage before his passing on November 29, 2007.
Marilyn had previously worked as a school secretary in for Grayville Community School District # 1 and also as a substitute rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. Her greatest career was that of farm wife and homemaker where she helped to run the family farm and oversee her home with care and compassion.
Marilyn was involved in her community where she participated as a member of the Grayville Senior Citizen’s Board and the Grayville Community Arts Association. Marilyn herself was an artist and enjoyed painting; she hand painted many bricks from the old school to use as fundraising items for various community activities and those in need. She would paint on anything she would find, making things more beautiful.
Marilyn was a follower of Jesus and worshipped at First Christian Church in Grayville. She shared her faith with many throughout the years. She especially had a passion for taking care of children and throughout her lifetime she brought many kids to church, vacation bible school or camping. Her love for Jesus and children defined her.
Survivors Include, her daughter Kara (John Girot) Kuykendall of Crossville, IL; grandchildren, Dylan Kuykendall, Noah Kuykendall, Kim Liniger, Angela Trumble and Brody Combs; Siblings, Betty Amos, Barbara (Don) Barnett, Mike (Charlotte) Campbell and Mark (Donna) Campbell; sister-in-laws, Lyndia Kuykendall and Winnifred Meisenheimer and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Alongside her Parents, and husband, Marilyn was preceded in death by her son Danny Kuykendall and brother-in-law Tom Amos.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 31, 2026, in the chapel of Roberts and Cook Funeral Service, 221 North 1st Street, Grayville, Illinois with Pastor Bob Beckman officiating. Burial will follow immediately at Oak Grove Cemetery in Grayville. Family and friends may visit from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either First Christian Church of Grayville or the Grayville Senior Citizen’s Center and will be accepted by Roberts and Cook Funeral Service who has been Entrusted with the arrangements.
