A federal court has given preliminary approval to a proposed $99 million right-to-repair settlement between John Deere and farmers involved in a nationwide class-action lawsuit.
U.S. District Judge Iain Johnston said the settlement appears “fair, reasonable and adequate,” moving the case toward final consideration early next year.
The settlement class is expected to include more than 200,000 people who purchased repair services from John Deere or authorized U.S. dealers between January 2018 and May 2026.
Notification of eligible class members is scheduled to begin by August 28. The deadline to object to the settlement is Dec. 4, while claims must be submitted by December 31.
A final fairness hearing is scheduled for January 19.
The proposed farmer settlement comes after John Deere reached a separate right-to-repair settlement with the Federal Trade Commission and five states.
