Gas prices are edging higher as motorists take to the roads for the Labor Day holiday.
AAA reports the national average for regular gasoline is now about $4.10 per gallon, up from roughly $4.08 a day earlier.
Higher crude oil prices are adding pressure at the pump amid continued uncertainty surrounding the conflict with Iran. The war has previously disrupted oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz and contributed to sharp swings in global crude prices.
Meanwhile, President Donald Trump has announced an agreement involving Venezuela’s oil reserves. Reuters reports Trump said the U.S. had secured majority control of more than 65 billion barrels of Venezuela’s proven reserves through a partnership with private business.
The combination of elevated crude prices and heavy holiday travel could keep gasoline prices under pressure as the Labor Day weekend continues.
