A West Salem man was arrested Tuesday evening following a traffic stop in Gibson County, Indiana.
According to the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies stopped a 2019 Lincoln MKZ around 7:18 p.m. after reportedly observing multiple moving violations on U.S. 41 near Deadman’s Curve in the Fort Branch area.
During the stop, deputies reported observing signs that the driver, 49-year-old Lynn Matchem of West Salem, Illinois, was under the influence. Deputies also reported smelling alcohol on Matchem’s breath after asking him to exit the vehicle for field sobriety testing.
Following the roadside investigation, Matchem was taken into custody and transported to the Gibson County Detention Center.
He was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and possession of marijuana.
