The National Weather Service in Paducah says hot and humid conditions will return to the region following a pleasant end to the holiday weekend.
Temperatures will climb Tuesday before reaching the upper 90s Wednesday afternoon. Heat index readings could reach the triple digits across the area Wednesday.
A cold front will approach Wednesday night, bringing widespread showers and thunderstorms into Thursday. Some storms Thursday could produce gusty winds.
Behind the front, temperatures are expected to return closer to normal Friday, with dry conditions and highs in the upper 80s.
The break from rain may be short-lived, however, as thunderstorm chances return by Saturday morning.
