The National Weather Service in Paducah says another hot and humid day is expected across the region, with strong to severe thunderstorms possible later today.

High temperatures are forecast to reach the mid to upper 90s. Southerly winds will bring higher humidity levels, pushing heat index values into the triple digits. Heat Advisories are in effect across portions of the region.

A slowly approaching cold front will increase thunderstorm chances this afternoon and evening. A few storms could become strong to severe, with damaging wind gusts the primary threat. The greatest severe weather risk is expected between 2 and 10 p.m.

On-and-off showers and thunderstorms will remain possible through Friday morning, with a marginal risk for severe storms both today and Thursday. Damaging winds will remain the main concern.

Unsettled conditions are expected to continue into the weekend, with isolated showers possible and afternoon highs generally in the upper 80s to lower 90s.
