A former Mt. Carmel man has again been sentenced to 120 years in prison following an appellate court ruling in his child pornography case.
Wabash County State’s Attorney Kelli Storckman says Chad Covalt was resentenced Tuesday by Judge William Hudson.
Covalt was convicted following a 2022 trial in Wabash County on 28 counts of child pornography and originally received a combined 120-year sentence.
On appeal, the court ruled that a single video depicting multiple victims could support only one conviction rather than separate convictions for each victim. As a result, two convictions were vacated, leaving Covalt with 26 counts.
During Tuesday’s resentencing, Judge Hudson again imposed a combined 120-year sentence in the Illinois Department of Corrections on the remaining convictions.
