Mt. Vernon Festivals will honor local first responders while commemorating the 25th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks during a special Friday’s Food & Art event.
“A Tribute to First Responders” will be held this (Friday) evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at The Commons in downtown Mt. Vernon.
Organizers say the evening will remember those who lost their lives on 9/11, recognize the first responders who rushed into danger that day and thank those who continue serving Jefferson County.
As part of the tribute, Jefferson County first responders will receive a free taco bar meal, made possible by several local sponsors.
The evening will also feature food vendors, local artists and makers, with live music from Fire & Ice beginning at 5:30 p.m. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
Chris Webster of Dry Bones Tattoo will be featured in the Local Artist Spotlight and will conduct a live tattoo demonstration. Webster and Mt. Vernon Festivals are also giving away a free tattoo to a Jefferson County first responder.
Friday’s Food & Art is free and open to the public at The Commons, located at 911 Broadway in downtown Mt. Vernon.
