One person suffered major injuries in a single-vehicle crash east of Mill Shoals Tuesday morning.

The crash happened around 8:30 a.m. on the Burnt Prairie blacktop, about a mile east of Mill Shoals near the crest of a hill known locally as Snowdrop Hill.

Authorities say a westbound pickup truck swerved to avoid a van pulling onto the roadway from a side road and struck an embankment.

The driver of the pickup was not injured. A female passenger suffered a broken leg and other major injuries and was airlifted to an area hospital for treatment.

Fairfield Rural firefighters, White County Ambulance Service and White County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene.

The names of those involved were not immediately available.
