The Fairfield Mules Football team were on the road Friday night for a showdown with conference rival Carmi-White County. After a 1 hour and 45 minute lightning delay, the Mules pulled out a last-minute victory over the Bulldogs when Alex Basnett connected on a 16-yard Touchdown pass to Grant Otey with 8 seconds left in the game to hand the Mules the 20-14 victory.
On offense the Mules were led once again by the Vaughan’s Tire Offensive Player of the Game, Michael Barner, who had 20 rushes for 174 yards and 2 touchdowns. Grant Otey added 12 rushes for 52 yards and Cooper Berg added 12 rushes for 41 yards.
The Potts Family Pharmacy Defensive Player of the Game was Clinton Odell who led the team with 8 solo tackles and 1 assisted tackle.
The Mules will be back in action next Friday at the Trainyard versus the undefeated Johnston City Indians
