The City of Albion and Sunrise Sanitation will hold the city’s annual Fall Cleanup on Thursday, October 8th.
The cleanup is available only to residents within the Albion city limits. Residents are asked to place approved items neatly at the curb no later than the evening before the cleanup.
Several types of items will not be accepted, including yard waste, rocks, concrete and most construction materials, metal or wood fencing, tires, wet paint cans, automobile and lawn mower parts, small-engine parts and electronic devices. Items deemed unacceptable by the EPA will also not be collected.
Construction materials such as roofing, demolition and remodeling debris will be accepted only in small amounts that fit inside a five-gallon bucket. Wood placed outside of furniture will not be accepted.
Piles larger than 4-by-4 feet will not be collected. Residents are also asked to place smaller items in containers or bags to help ensure pickup.
Officials caution that sanitation employees will not sort through piles. If an unapproved item is placed with otherwise acceptable materials, the entire pile may be left behind.
Sunrise Sanitation and the City of Albion are asking residents to follow the guidelines to help the cleanup run smoothly.
