A Centralia man is facing a murder charge following a domestic incident last week that resulted in the stabbing death of his wife.

Centralia Police say 49-year-old Jason Reynolds was arrested on a Clinton County warrant after being released from a St. Louis hospital, where he had been treated for injuries following the incident.

Authorities allege Reynolds stabbed his wife, 43-year-old Jessica Reynolds, at their South Beech Street home before stabbing himself. Police found both outside on the porch when officers arrived.

Jessica Reynolds was transported to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia, where she died approximately an hour later. Jason Reynolds was taken to a St. Louis hospital for treatment.

Centralia Police Lieutenant Steve Whritenour said Jessica Reynolds told officers the stabbing occurred after she informed her husband that she intended to call police about an alleged domestic battery from the previous night.

Marion County Coroner Claude Howell said an autopsy determined Jessica Reynolds died from injuries to her heart and lung consistent with a stabbing.

Following his release from the hospital, Jason Reynolds was taken into custody and lodged in the St. Louis City Jail. As of Tuesday, he was awaiting extradition to Clinton County to face the murder charge.
