A motorist sustained a head injury Wednesday morning after debris reportedly thrown from an Illinois Department of Transportation mower crashed through the windshield of a van on Interstate 64.
The incident happened around 11:18 a.m. near the westbound 97-mile marker, west of the Wayne City exit.
Initial reports indicated a piece of tire debris was kicked up by the IDOT mower and struck the van, smashing through the driver’s windshield.
Wayne County Ambulance Service, Wayne City Fire Department and Illinois State Police responded to the scene.
The driver, whose identity was not released by Illinois State Police, was treated at the scene for a head injury. The motorist did not require transportation to a hospital.
