Christopher Rural Health Planning Corporation is reminding area residents that Medicare open enrollment will begin October 15th and continue through December 7th.
The annual enrollment period gives individuals with Medicare an opportunity to review and make changes to their health and prescription drug coverage for the upcoming year. CRHPC says the weeks leading up to enrollment are a good time to review current coverage, compare available plan choices and examine Annual Notices of Change.
During the October 15th through December 7th enrollment period, eligible individuals can sign up for, switch or drop plans. Those who have turned 65 and have not yet enrolled in Medicare are also encouraged to review their options.
CRHPC says assistance is available at no cost through its certified Senior Health Insurance Program, or SHIP counselors. Assistance is available whether or not an individual is a CRHPC patient.
