The Mules and Lady Mules Cross Country teams competed at the Lawrenceville Invitational on Saturday. The Mules Boys team finished 1st overall while the Girls team finished 2nd. Top 10 finishers for the Mules Boys were Ashton King-2nd, Treyton Lewis-3rd, Kendall Diesel-6th, Skylar Bladel-7th, and Jarret Vaughan-9th. Top 10 finishers for the Lady Mules were Emeri Sager-1st, Gabby Zurliene-9th, and Ellanie Vanway-10th
HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS TENNIS:
The Lady Mules Tennis team was in action at the Mt. Vernon Doubles Tournament on Saturday and finished 2nd overall behind Salem. The Doubles teams of Marlee Richards and Kenry Hutchcraft, Emily Vaughan and Malori Simpson, and Carly Fleener and Ella Gonzalez all picked up victories over Mt. Vernon and Marion before falling to Salem.

(Miami, FL) — The Dolphins are hoping their best player avoided a serious injury on Sunday. De’Von Achane suffered a knee injury during the team’s 24-10 loss to the Chiefs. Head coach Jeff Hafley said it “doesn’t sound very optimistic at the moment” when asked about the Pro Bowler’s status following the game. Miami slipped to 0-and-3 with the loss and has scored just 36 points over the opening three weeks.

(Los Angeles, CA) — USC is suspending linebacker Desman Stephens the second one game due to his conduct in Saturday night’s game against Oregon. The suspension comes after a late hit on Oregon’s quarterback Dante Moore. In the second quarter, Moore scrambled up the field and attempted to slide when Stephens hit him hard on the way down. Moore’s head slammed into the ground and he remained on the ground where he was attended by medical staff for an extended period of time. While Moore was still on the ground, Stephens ran around the field celebrating the hit and continued to do so with teammates even after he was called for targeting and ejected.

(Undated) — Texas is still number one in the college football coaches’ poll after Week Four of the season. The Longhorns are followed by Georgia, Notre Dame, Miami and Indiana. Meanwhile, Florida jumped 14 spots to number eight after defeating Ole Miss at home. Other schools like Ohio State, Alabama and Iowa also moved up in the rankings after wins over the weekend. Louisville, Texas A&M, Washington and Oklahoma were all dropped out of the top 25.

(Denver, CO) — Colorado Rockies catcher Hunter Goodman becomes only the sixth catcher in National League history to knock out 40 home runs in one season. Goodman hit the 91-mile-per-hour cutter off White Sox pitcher Noah Schultz on Saturday, sending it 381-feet into the left field stands. But he wasn’t finished — Goodman came back in the top of the ninth slamming another homer into the left field stands making it 41. Goodman is the only player on the team to post 40 home runs in a season since Nolan Aranado seven years ago.

(Undated) — The Bruins officially have a new leader. The club announced Sunday that David Pastrnak has been named the captain. Pastrnak is the 28th captain in franchise history, joining a list that includes 16 Hockey Hall of Famers. The 30-year-old has played his entire career with Boston since being selected in the first round of the 2014 NHL Draft. He has 420 goals in 833 career games. Boston opens the regular season on Tuesday when it hosts the New York Rangers.

(Medinah, IL) — The US Team captured its 11th consecutive victory in the Presidents Cup after taking down the International Team 17-13 from Medinah. Cameron Young, Justin Thomas, Scottie Scheffler, Chris Gotterup, Collin Morikawa, Patrick Cantlay, Jackson Koivun, Jacob Bridgeman and Xander Schauffele each collected an individual win for the red, white and blue on Sunday. The US is now an all-time 14-1-and-1 in the event.

(Kansas City, KS) — Kyle Larson remains red hot in the NASCAR Cup Series postseason. The driver of the Number-5 car took home the checkered flag in the Hollywood Casino 400 from Kansas Speedway. Larson has won two of the first four races in The Chase as the field prepares for the South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway next Sunday. There are six races left in the playoffs.
