Several cases were resolved or addressed Tuesday in Wayne County Circuit Court.
Azalee E. Stephans, 22, of Fairfield, was placed on one year of court supervision in a misdemeanor retail theft case. Stephans was ordered to pay $64.89 in restitution to Walmart, along with court costs, and was ordered to stay away from Walmart.
Caleb T. Vaughan, 20, of Barnhill, is charged with Obstructing Justice, a Class 4 felony. Prosecutors allege Vaughan provided false information to law enforcement with the intent to prevent the apprehension or prosecution of another person. Vughan did not plead guilty. Instead, the case was continued while he participates in the Offender Initiative Program for 12 months. Conditions include $899.60 in restitution, a $1,500 fine plus costs, probation reporting, employment or community service, evaluations and counseling, drug testing and completion of an alcohol assessment and a class involving consent and/or sexual harassment. He was also ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim and may not possess firearms or other dangerous weapons.
If Vaughan successfully completes the program, prosecutors will dismiss the case.
Spencer D. Michaels, 40, of Johnsonville, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor DUI and received one year of court supervision. He was ordered to pay a $750 fine plus assessments, complete a DUI evaluation and recommended treatment, and attend a Victim Impact Panel. An improper lane usage charge was dismissed as part of the plea agreement.
Darrell D. McClanahan, 25, of Wayne City, also pleaded guilty to misdemeanor DUI and was placed on one year of court supervision. McClanahan was ordered to pay a $750 fine plus assessments, complete a DUI evaluation and any recommended treatment, attend a Victim Impact Panel and contribute $50 to the local anti-crime program.
