Phyllis M. (Garner) Clark, 95, of Wayne City, IL passed away on Monday, September 28, 2026 at Twin Willows Nursing Home in Salem, IL. Phyllis was born on August 12, 1931 in Wayne City to Omer & Lola (McKinney) Garner. On May 26, 1954 she married Jervis “J.J.” Clark, who preceded her in death.
Phyllis retired from the First National Bank in Wayne City, where she had worked as a Teller and she was a member of the Wayne City Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her church family and going on walks with her baby sister Alice Jane. She also enjoyed playing cards and having coffee with the “Girls Group.”
Phyllis is survived by her son Monty (Becky) Clark, daughter-in-law Cindy Clark, sister Alice Jane (Cully) Crook,brother-in-law Emery “Doc” Clark, 4 grandkids: Cody (Kendra) Clark, Aaron Clark, Alex (Julie) Clark, and Jessi Clark, 5 bonus grandkids: Ryan Mattingly, Renee (Craig) Beck, Risa (Trent) Legg, Katie Perry, and Billie (Brad) Saur, 3 great-grandkids: Clay Clark, Ava Clark, and Delaney Clark, 10 bonus great-grandkids: Amelia Rapien, Madison Mattingly, Bailee Beck, Seth Beck, Alexis Legg, Riggin Legg, Darrion Legg, Faith Legg, Willow Legg, and Aaliyah Perry, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Omer & Lola Garner, her husband J.J. Clark, her son Denny Clark, and 4 brothers: Norris Garner, Raymond Garner, Herman Garner, and Billy “Joe” Garner.
Funeral services for Phyllis M. (Garner) Clark will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at Young Funeral Home in Wayne City with Pastor Jonathan Schnautz officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow the funeral service at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to “Thomason Cemetery Fund” and will be accepted at Young Funeral Home.
