The American Red Cross is encouraging blood and platelet donors of all blood types to schedule appointments this fall.
A local blood drive will be held Tuesday from noon until 6 p.m. in the Link Gymnasium at Blue Point Free Will Baptist Church.
Those who donate blood or platelets through October 18th will receive a $15 e-gift card to a merchant of their choice.
Donors generally must be at least 17 years old, or 16 with parental consent where allowed, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Additional height and weight requirements apply to some younger donors.
Those donating should bring a blood donor card, driver’s license or two other forms of identification.
Appointments can be scheduled through the Red Cross Blood Donor App, by calling 1-800-RED CROSS, or online through the American Red Cross.
