Wabash General Hospital has received national recognition for recording a zero rate of catheter-associated urinary tract infections, or CAUTIs. Becker’s Hospital Review included Wabash General among 532 hospitals nationwide achieving a zero rate based on Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services data covering October 2024 through September 2025.
Wabash General was also one of only 18 Illinois hospitals included on Becker’s 2026 list.
Catheter-associated urinary tract infections are among the most common healthcare-associated infections. The hospital says the zero rate reflects its focus on infection prevention, patient safety and quality care. The measurements are developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and collected through the National Healthcare Safety Network.
As a Critical Access Hospital serving southeastern Illinois, Wabash General says preventing infections and improving patient outcomes remain priorities for its physicians, nurses and staff.
