Edwards County has announced the launch of TextMyGov, a new communication service designed to provide residents with county updates and access to information through text messaging.
The county is scheduled to officially launch the mass text notification system during October. Residents may receive an introductory text message from 80946 on behalf of Edwards County. Participation is optional, and residents can opt out at any time by replying STOP.
Those who do not receive the initial message can enroll by texting “EDWARDS COUNTY” to 80946. After sending the keyword, users will be asked to reply YES to confirm their participation.
Subscribers may receive messages involving county events, important updates, emergency information, weather alerts and other notices. Additional notification groups may also be made available in the future.
Residents will also be able to obtain county information around the clock by texting keywords or questions to 618-754-1776. The service can provide information about county services, offices, community resources and other county-related matters.
Edwards County Clerk and Recorder Melanie Knight said the addition of TextMyGov is part of the county’s effort to improve communication and provide residents with easier access to government information.
